FAQ’S

How can I become a member?

Anyone who wants to race BMX needs to become a member of BMX Australia. You can apply for this membership through the BMX Australia website.

How much does BMX cost?

Yearly Membership through BMX Australia costs $192.83 (lower for sprockets and mini wheelers). You can purchase a 4 month trial membership for $65.45 while you are trying out the sport as a beginner. We run practice nights (gates sessions) at our track at a cost of $3 per rider or $7 per family. Racing nights are at a cost of $8.00 per member or $19 per family.

When is the club open?

We open on Tuesday Nights with beginners from 5:30pm – 6pm and open sessions from 6pm – 7.30pm. Friday Nights are our race nights. You need to nominate your rider before 7pm and racing starts at 7.30pm. The track is accessible all other days of the week for you to roll around and practice, however the gate is only in operation while committee members or coaches are on site.

Is there any coaching available?

Yes! Take a look at our coaching page for full information about our coaches, when they are available and what levels of experience they can coach for.

What type of events can I enter?

There are many different types of BMX events.
Gates – Practice sessions where you can practice different skills around the track at your own pace.

Club Racing – Racing at the club. Normally for club points that tally towards the end of the year.

Open Days – All clubs have open days throughout the year. You can ride at any other BMX club in Australia providing you have a current membership.

Australian Titles – Riders from all over Australia will be competing in this event for the chance to be crowned Australian N0. 1.

World Titles – The top riders from the Aussies qualify to attend the World titles each year. This is in a different country each year and is an international event!

What should I wear?

Protection is the name of the game! To ride BMX, you need to have your body covered. This means:-

  • Long Sleeve Shirt

  • Gloves
  • Full Face Helmet

New riders can get away with a good tracksuit or pair of jeans while they are learning, but BMX/Motor cross gear will be great to wear in the long run.
